Author Presentations are 45-60 minutes, for K-8th grades, and any sized groups.
Suzy talks about her important writing tools and seeds for stories. She shares her fifth grade writing, her pile of rejections, and mementoes from her 27 years of teaching that have inspired her to write stories. She talks about her Horrible Harry series and Herbie Jones, and involves the audience in a Readers' Theater. Questions are encouraged at the end of the session.
Books may be ordered at a 40% discount by contacting Viking Penguin Young Readers, 1-800-733-3000 or email csorders@penguinrandomhouse.com
and let the contact know they are ordering for an author visit.
Writing Workshops are for grades 3-8th, and are limited to one classroom for each 60-70 minute session. Suzy goes into the classroom and talks about how authors write good stories. She involves the children in two writing activities with lots of sharing.
Please contact Suzy at Rufilius@aol.com to inquire about her availability and fees for an author presentation and/or writing workshops.

What Schools Say About Suzy:
"Thank you so much for visiting our third graders and taking time to sign books for each student. They absolutely loved having you! Thank you for sharing your passion for writing with our children. Your ability to engage with children is beautiful and flawless - A true gift!"
-Michele Gangi, Enrichment Coordinator, Nixon School, Sudbury, MA
"Suzy Kline's visits to our school are the best. We have been lucky enough to have her come here for at least the past 7 years. She is engaging, entertaining and very informative. She takes the students on a 'behind the scenes look at how her books are created'. Suzy teaches the children hows to be writers and the importance of writing. Suzy has a natural way of engaging the students in the writing process. After her visit all students have a thirst for writing and can't wait to get started.
-Andrea Jones, Grade 2 teacher, Fulmar Road School, Mahopac, NY
"We only ask back the folks who get A+++ ratings from the teachers. Suzy Kline was one of the best presenters we have had", "Every aspect of the program was fabulous", and "Great interaction with kids. Attention grabber. Fabulous connection to curriculum".
-Judy Shulz, Grade 3 Curriculum Coordinator, Chickering School, Dover, MA
"Suzy Kline was an amazing author visit. Students and staff were both mesmerized by all the materials she brought to share. Teachers especially were thrilled with how she showed the students how the simplest object could be a spark for a story, and her books continue to fly off the shelf long after her visit! I highly recommend inviting her to your school!"
- Carl Harvey, School Librarian, North Elementary, Noblesville, Indiana
"The Wheelock School in Medfield, Massachusetts is completely hooked on Suzy Kline. She has been visiting our third graders for the past five years and her presentations are absolutely unbeatable. While always fun and entertaining, the real essence of her talk is to inspire young writers and she never fails in that regard. Kids can’t wait to put pencil to paper. Our students voluntarily accept the challenge of reading all of the Horrible Harry titles before her visit and then just can’t wait for her arrival. We cannot imagine a Wheelock Reads Week, (our author celebration) without Suzy Kline!" -Susan Pope, Wheelock School Library, Medfield, MA
"At Booth Hill School in Trumbull, CT , we have had the pleasure of having Suzy Kline speak to our 2nd graders for five years. The students and teachers read Suzy’s books before she comes to visit. They so excited to hear where and how Suzy gets her ideas for her stories. The students also love acting out her play. Her visit encourages the students to continue reading her books as well as others. I hope to have Suzy Kline come for many, many years in the future to talk and visit with our students."
- Shari Braverman and Patricia Scherzinger, Hewlett School, Hewlett, NY
"Suzy is the BEST and every child in the world should experience a Suzy Kline visit!!"
- Carol Somers, Smithville School, Smithville, NJ
