About the Author
Suzy Kline was an elementary school teacher for 27 years and most of her books are based on the experiences she had while teaching. She has traveled all over the United States inspiring children to read and write. She has also taught Children's Literature at the University of Connecticut at Storrs.
Suzy's Childhood
Suzy was born in Berkeley, California. She always loved to write. Her favorite teacher at Marin Elementary School was Mr. Teague. He had creative writing every Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. and allowed everyone to choose their own topic. Suzy wrote a weekly chapter for her book, Mystery of the Ink Blotter. After school, she loved playing at Terrace Park with friends, and in the summer, she loved going on camping trips. She was a cheerleader but would have played sports if there were teams for girls.
Suzy's Later Years
Suzy met her husband Rufus at the University of California at Davis. She transferred to Columbia University and then the University of California at Berkeley, where she graduated with a degree in European History. She and Rufus have been married for over 50 years and enjoy rooting for the UConn sport teams that are closeby. Rufus always has a cat on his lap.
Suzy and Rufus have two daughters, Jennifer and Emily, and five dear grandchildren, Jake, Kenna, Gabby, Saylor and Holden.
